Light in Dark Time

Light in the Darkness is a textile work by Ecuadorian artist Susana Uvidia, created during the global lockdown. Emerging from stillness and isolation, the pieces reflect on the silent yet powerful gestures that connect people, such as songs from balconies, gestures of kindness between strangers, and the simplest ways of being close. The woven forms radiate from a central figure, simultaneously eye and heart, to evoke protection, care, and the invisible threads that bind us together, even in the darkest moments.
