Threads of Resurrection
Threads of Resurrection is a sculptural work by Ecuadorian artist Susana Uvidia, where welded steel rods and handwoven threads intertwine as an act of woven resistance against erased histories. The work responds to the lingering colonial mindset that dismisses centuries of Indigenous knowledge, reducing complex cultures to imposed narratives. A fragile yet unbreakable framework emerges, where threads reclaim power, transforming colonial histories into stories of endurance, survival, and cultural continuity. Rooted in mestizo identity and ancestral memory, this work stands as a living force that defies erasure and displacement.
