Cli-Cha

Cli-Cha begins with a first encounter; entering the vast, controlled space of Clifford Chance, where scale dominates and silence is enforced. The absence of noise was striking; even in the bathroom, silence was instructed. What should have felt active and full instead became restrained and muted.

This experience led me to question how something minimal; a single steel rod; can build structures that feel imposing, almost overwhelming. The sculptures use painted rods in vibrant, Indigenous colour palettes, arranged into geometric forms that echo systems of order and control.

Against the imposed quietness, the work introduces a form of cultural noise. The structures don’t sit comfortably; they interrupt, bend expectation, and occupy space differently.

The series holds this contrast; between silence and presence, control and disruption; where what is introduced does not fully belong, but refuses to disappear.
